This is my first down jacket and it rules. Here are some reasons.
Nobody has it unlike a North Face product. Has good color selections. Great quality.
Now for the technical stuff.
Light weight. If you were blindfolded you might not think there is a jacket on your body. Everybody I know who picks it up is amazed. You can almost toss it in the air and watch it levitate.
Compresses down into no size at all. When stuffed into its stuffsack, its not much bigger than a nalagene water bottle.
Warmth. I used it the other day with it about 27 degrees outside thanks to windchill and was perfectly content walking from my room to class. It is not the warmest for just walking from place to place on cold cold days, or with strong winds as there are no sinch cords on the waist to seal in warmth, but over 25 degrees and you dont need anything else.
However, wear this under a protective shell, and you are set to watch the thermometer drop.
I bought this for extra security when snowshoeing incase I did get cold. It takes up no room in the pack, and adds an extra comfort knowing that if I do get cold, all I have to do is pull this out and put it on. While on the west side of the Cascades I didn't put it to much use(bought it after the winter though) but now over in Ellensburg, WA I find I can wear it almost all the time.
Did I mention this thing weighs under 12 ounces?
