Bought this gem in spring of 08.First Osprey pack that i have ever used and must say it was a very good choice. In my own opinion the hip belt is one of the best ever designed. Also the airflow on the back of this pack is great.Great load transfer tops this pack off with mostly great features. The only thing i dont like is the elastic side pockets, they seem not at all durable but time will tell.If looking for a new pack in the sub 5lb area,4lbs 12oz in my size, then give this one a try. Last thing i would like to say is i have been buying from Richard at OMC since his early days on Jefferson street in downtown and have always had a good experiance with his store!..

I purchased this Osprey a few weeks ago to replace my aging 20 year old backpack. I did a (trial hike) day hike with this new backpack before heading out on a 4-day trip in the high country of Yosemite. I also packed 40 lbs of contents for the trial hike. I was comfortable while hiking about 9 miles in a 2000 ft. climb. This backpack has many adjustments were it can "custom" one needs. Very well design. If you are looking for a new multi-day packback, I would recommend this backpack. Another comment: OMC was great! Customer service was helpful. Shipping was free and quick. Got my gears in three days to California. Thanks!..

I have used this pack for the 08 season, ~13 nights out. A great pack that can hold a weeks worth of stuff or compress down for an overnighter. Very pleased with the streamlined design to keep weight down and not snag bushwacking. The suspension handles 40lbs great, I have not carried it with more weight though it seems capable. The elastic side pouch keeps a nalgene secure, but is difficult to access while on the move. Durable so far, but I have only used it for this season. Bought the Daylight pack which attaches to the body, makes a great combination for extend backpacks with a daypack on summit days. Loved my old dana designs terraplane pack, but considering the weight savings with the Aether, it is not gonna make it out of the closet very often anymore...
