The Scarpa Inverno is the world's most used and abused plastic mountaineering boot and this year it gets an upgrade! Still the same lightweight yet tough Pebax shell, but now with a High Altitude liner. More effective insulation means that you are more likely to keep all your toes!

The Inverno features:

  • Pebax shell stays tough even at low temperatures
  • Weight: 2lb 13oz per 1/2 pair size 8 UK
  • H.A. liner is 7mm thick EVA insulation
  • Special reflective coating on liner for added heat retention

I used these boots for a conditioning hike on Mt Hood a few days ago. They seemed to be very comfortable at first. A few hours into the hike I started developing shin pain. I may have tightened the inner boot too much but did that due to some heal lift. As we started to make our way down I noted an annoying pain where the metal hinge is.. Even though the inner boot has a leather patch which I'm guessing is to protect your foot from this hinge, but it doesnt completely due the job.. Had I worn these boots on a full summit attempt, It would have gotten much more painful. I ended up with tons of shin blisters which are still healing.. I realize that mountaineering is hard on the feet and trying to buy a perfect pair of boots is very difficult. I will try making some adjustments to these b..
