When you spend a lot of time in the mountains, an appreciation for old-school boot technology can develop. Climbing rock and snow, backpacking heavy loads, working wildfire crew or trail maintainence, you value foot protection and simple durability. The new Scarpa Fuego delivers. Based on the respected Scarpa Manta, the Fuego is classic Italian mountain boot through and through. Thick leather of the highest quality with very few seams means little to snag, tear, or pull apart. Even the tongue is a traditional bellows style- perhaps a bit longer to break in, but there is nothing to wear out or leak.
Is there a downside to this boot? Sure, the old style bootmaking does ask more of the user both in breaking in, and maintaining the leather for weatherproof performance. The cool thing is, these could last you so long you should consider listing them in your will. Limited to stock on hand.
